Good Omens Fans Reel from Shocking Prime Video Series Update! - Glass Almanac

The anticipated third and final season of Good Omens was set to be filmed this year but was halted in the pre-production phase when multiple sexual assault allegations surfaced against Neil Gaiman.

The anticipated third and final season of Good Omens was set to be filmed this year but was halted in the pre-production phase when multiple sexual assault allegations surfaced against Neil Gaiman.

Two women disclosed in a Tortoise Media podcast that they had been sexually assaulted by the author, despite being in consensual relationships with him. Since then, three more women have come forward with similar accusations.

In response to these allegations, which he denies, Gaiman stepped back from Good Omens last September to allow the series to conclude its narrative. Previously serving as writer, showrunner, and executive producer, Gaiman contributed to the scripting of the series finale but will not be involved in its production. Moreover, his production company, Blank Corporation, will also not be engaged in the project.

According to industry sources at Deadline, a new writer is expected to take over to complete the series. Michael Sheen (the angel Aziraphale) and David Tennant (the demon Crowley) are set to return for a final 90-minute special episode, which is scheduled to be filmed in early 2025 in Scotland. It’s worth noting that the series is based on the 1990 novel of the same name, co-authored by Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.

This pivot in concluding Good Omens is just the latest fallout from the situation surrounding Gaiman, and it does not bode well for other projects involving the author. For instance, at Disney, the adaptation of his novel The Graveyard Book has also been put on hold, and it remains unclear whether Netflix will reevaluate the future of the series Sandman given the circumstances.

The second season is set to premiere on the streaming service Netflix in 2025, but there are no indications that it will continue beyond these upcoming episodes. Moreover, another series from the same universe, Dead Boy Detectives, has already been canceled.

Good Omens will indeed make a comeback on Prime Video to wrap up its celestial tale of angels and demons, but not in the form of a third season as previously announced by Amazon’s streaming platform.

Instead, the conclusion will be delivered through a single 90-minute special episode, and notably, without the involvement of creator Neil Gaiman.
