Artist Sarkar Nahid Niazi has displayed constructivism sculptures and paintings in her solo exhibition titled ManyFestion under way at the Alliance Française de Dhaka in Dhanmondi.

The 12-day exhibition is featuring 25 artworks.

Sarkar Nahid attempted to portray old, worn-out and rusty objects colourfully by drawing different forms and textures on canvases, wood and cardboard boxes using acrylic paint.

Her artwork titled Cartoon Box depicts colourful wood panel.

The artwork titled Blackboard gives the audience a glimpse into a mathematics class in a school that ends abruptly due to the emergence of Covid-19 crisis.

The artwork titled Box of Apple shows a box filled with green and red apples.

Her acrylic painting series titled Image of Ship shows different parts of a ship.

Besides, the artwork titled Image of Wood shows textures of wood.

‘I have always been fascinated by the textures of different objects. Therefore, I created artworks depicting textures of wood and metal on canvases as well as surfaces of wood and cardboard boxes,’ said Sarkar Nahid Niazi, who has participated in five solo exhibitions and about 20 group exhibitions at both home and abroad.

ManyFestion began on June 2. Artist Shishir Bhattacharjee, professor of drawing and painting department at Dhaka University, was present as special guest while president of Samdani Art Foundation Nadia Samdani was present as guest of honour at the inaugural ceremony.

The exhibition will end on June 13.
